Students of tertiary institutions in the central district of Ogun State today endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate, Chief Olumide Aderinokun for the February 25 election.
The students in an interactive meeting today in Abeokuta had representatives of Federal university of Agriculture (FUNAAB), Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Federal college of Education Osiele, ICT Polytechnic Itori, National Open university NOUN and Cooperative College Ijeja.
The students under the aegis of NANS, NAUS, NAOSS and PSM were also in attendance.
The congregation of students said, “having considered the antecedents of all the candidates for the election and their programmes for students, we have come to the realisation of the fact that only Chief Olumide Aderinokun, the PDP candidate is the best and we have no reservation to endorse him as our candidate”.
Addressing the forum, Comrade Oriyomi Oloyede, popularly known as Professor thanked Chief Olumide Aderinokun for his tremendous contribution to education and student unionism through his philanthropical gesture. He stressed that the students representative and stakeholders unanimously agreed to work and deliver their campus polling units for the People’s Democratic party candidate in the central district.
Speaking after the endorsement, the speaker of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Student Union, Rt. Hon. Atu Tobi said the student leadership x-rayed all the candidates for the 2023 senatorial election and are convinced that Aderinokun is the man who believes in student’s welfarism and has abilities to make Nigeria great.
Hailing the endorsement, Olasunkanmi Oyejide, the Ogun Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth leader said Ogun Central will be in capable hands once Aderinokun emerges. He hailed the students for taking the right step and appealed to them to shun forms of violence as they cast their votes in the poll.
