Sequel to the economic pressures facing Nigerians, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and coordinator of Kosofe local government under the auspices of Lagos State House of Assembly Aspirants Forum (LAHAA), Barr. Bintu Akerele-Shobaloju on Saturday commenced the ‘koko & akara’ breakfast initiative for the residents of Kosofe local government.
Speaking while flagging-off the initiative at one of the locations ‘Omo Oba Koko Spot’, Barrister Bintu said the support from her is imperative due to the fact that in the past few weeks, the currency redesign by the Central Bank of Nigeria and other crises associated with the economy has introduced hunger to the people.
Her gesture was to put smiles on the faces of vulnerable women and men, young and old during this period that Nigerians contend with limited cash in circulation.

According to her statement, “The measures became necessary to improve the situation among the vulnerable residents of Kosofe local government.
“I applaud the people of Kosofe because of their steadfast and peaceful coexistence in the face of fraustration. I appeal to everyone to remain calm because this time shall also pass.”
Barrister Bintu commended Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for taking the people’s side despite his ambition. She also applauded Governor Babajide Sanwoolu for showing quality leadership by standing with the people, also distributing palliative items without considering the political party they belong to or the religion they adhere to.
She concluded saying this period, more than any other, calls for love, empathy, thoughtfulness and restraint.
Reacting to the initiative, a cross section of the residents who spoke to Readership Nigeria on Sunday, said that the development was commendable and would go a long way in cushioning the hardship faced in the country.
Mr. Adetola Olugbenga said that Mrs. Bintu deserved commendation by her initiative and monitoring in the giving out of the palliatives to ensure that the right thing is done.
Two of the residents, Hon. Adekunle Saliu, popularly known as Africa and Abdulsallam Adebanjo also lauded the gesture and called for others in the corridor of power to emulate Barrister Bintu.

One Comrade Francis Ugbechi prayed heavily for Barrister Bintu. He eulogised the former aspirants and said that her future in politics is certain.
While assuring that more spots would be created, Barrister Bintu said she is willingly to do more especially with her NGO.
